My Bid for President

Because None of This Is Normal

Republican Party Voters: What Have They Done for YOU?

Let me ask Republican voters a question, and I want you to sit with it for a moment before you reflexively reach for a culture war talking point:

What in the hell has your party actually done for you?

Not for billionaires. Not for defense contractors. Not for the donor class. For you.

Because from where I’m standing, the answer is almost nothing — and I’m going to walk you through it.

Let’s start with taxes. Yes, Republicans cut federal income taxes. Congratulations. But that gutted federal revenue to the states, which then jacked up your state taxes, your sales taxes, and your property taxes to compensate. So tell me — when is the last time those went down? I’ll wait.

Health care? Democrats have been fighting for it since the 1990s and finally delivered with the ACA in 2010. Millions of conservative voters who loudly screamed that they “totally opposed Obamacare” quietly benefited from it — and kept their mouths shut about it. Meanwhile, Republicans have spent 15 years trying to rip it away from you while promising a replacement that has never once materialized. Trump has been dangling a “big, beautiful health care plan” for over a decade. It does not exist. It has never existed. Fewer Americans have health insurance now than before, and costs keep climbing.

The budget? Republicans didn’t balance it — Bill Clinton did. Then the Republican who came after him blew the surplus, started two wars on a credit card, added trillions to the national debt, and handed the next guy the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression.

Homelessness? You want to talk about homeless camps? Fine. Follow the trend line straight back to Ronald Reagan, who gutted federal funding for mental health programs and housing assistance. The homeless crisis you love to complain about — in cities you don’t even live in — was built by Republican policy. Own it.

Guns? Sure, Republicans made it easier to own them. That’s something, I suppose. But those same policies have fueled a mass shooting epidemic that has made gun violence the number one cause of death for children in this country. And before you blame blue states — of the 10 deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history, half happened in deep red, pro-gun states. Three of them in Texas, where you can legally walk into a Chili’s with an assault rifle. The queso isn’t worth it, but sure — freedom.

I am a concealed carry holder and have no real issues with guns when they are used correctly by a trained individual. When I took the CCW test in Florida, all you had to do was pick up a 38 revolver, point it down range and shoot one time. Put the gun down. No one got injured or shot? Passed. That’s it. That was it. Didn’t matter if you even hit the target or held the gun correctly. Now THAT, I have a problem with.

Red states in general? Let’s look at the scoreboard. States controlled by Republicans consistently rank at the bottom in life expectancy, infant mortality, health care access, education, average income, and quality of life. They rank near the top in violent crime, teen pregnancy, and citizens depending on government assistance. And most of them take in far more federal money than they contribute — money largely generated by the blue states they mock. So the “we don’t need government handouts” crowd is, statistically, the one most dependent on them.
