Just as law enforcement risks their lives to protect us at home, veterans put their lives on the line both internationally and domestically to defend our freedoms. They serve this country with honor, ensuring our safety and way of life.

Yet, it is appalling how often veterans are forgotten when they return home. Too many struggle with mental anguish, anxiety, insomnia, and other serious health issues—only to be met with indifference. While the Veterans Administration (VA) exists to provide support, it remains critically underfunded, particularly under the leadership of President Trump and Elon Musk. If things were bad before, we can only expect them to get worse.

We must get our veterans the help they deserve. Long wait times and endless bureaucratic red tape make it nearly impossible for them to receive timely assistance. Even those suffering from conditions linked to Agent Orange exposure—a battle dating back to the Vietnam War—face a grueling process to access their benefits.

Proper funding is essential to ensure veterans receive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and even housing. It is unacceptable that so many who served our nation are now homeless, abandoned by the very country they fought to protect. This failure by the government is a disgrace. It’s time to step up and support those who sacrificed for us.
