Formal Complaint Filed With the Florida Bar (Pam Bondi)

BREAKING: Pam Bondi, who serves as Donald Trump’s Attorney General, is facing a formal ethics complaint filed with the The Florida Bar alleging “serious professional misconduct” in her current role.

And there’s more.

Approximately 70 legal professionals—including law professors, practicing attorneys, and former Florida Supreme Court justices Barbara J. Pariente and Peggy A. Quince—have joined together to file the complaint.

The filing accuses Bondi of violating her ethical obligations and engaging in conduct that “threatens the rule of law and the administration of justice.” It further alleges that she attempted to pressure Department of Justice attorneys to act unethically under the banner of “zealous advocacy,” referencing a memo she reportedly issued to DOJ staff on her first day.

According to the complaint, Bondi and senior members of her team directed DOJ lawyers to take actions those attorneys believed were ethically prohibited—sometimes under threat of suspension, termination, or, in some cases, actual dismissal.

The complaint also claims that DOJ attorneys were pressured to “zealously pursue the President’s political objectives,” raising concerns about political influence over what is traditionally expected to be an independent institution.

Beyond those allegations, the filing argues that Bondi’s actions violate longstanding norms meant to preserve the nonpartisan nature of the Department of Justice, as well as the professional conduct rules governed by the Florida Bar.

The group also challenges the Florida Bar’s previous decisions not to pursue earlier complaints against Bondi. They argue that the Bar’s policy of declining to investigate sitting constitutional officers should not apply when a Florida-licensed attorney is accused of abusing federal power.

During her confirmation hearing, Bondi stated that she would end the alleged “weaponization” of the Justice Department. Critics now argue that her actions contradict that claim, suggesting a shift toward increased political alignment rather than independence.

Opponents say that under Bondi’s leadership, the Justice Department has taken on a more partisan role, prioritizing political objectives over impartial enforcement of the law.

The complaint calls for accountability and further review of her conduct.
